Procedure

The GoFocus programme is suitable for learners Gr. 1-12

The programme is offered in one-hour sessions

Groups are small and the functionality of the sessions is structured in such a way as to provide each child with optimal attention and assistance.

There is NO homework except for having to use the techniques

GoFocus offers WORLD-FIRST techniques which were developed in South Africa

  • Focusing skill / technique for correcting any problems with concentration and focusing
  • Spatial-awareness technique - crucial for visual learners and dyslexic individuals.
  • Relaxation technique which helps to reduce stress realted to the learning process
All of these techniques are mastered within the first session and can be used in the classroom without anyone noticing.

Each learner's course is individually designed

Learners progress at their own individual pace

The time which it will take to complete the course, can only be established once the evaluation/assessment has been completed, and can vary from 2-6 months or even more depending on how many sessions are enrolled for montly.

Each programme is uniquely compiled to address the learner's individual needs and problem areas. The learner therefore completes only the sections relevant to his needs.

1.
Assessment / evaluation

An assessment or evaluation is completed at the centre before the learner is enrolled in the GoFocus programme. The duration of such an assessment is about an hour.

At least one parent/guardian should accompany the learner to the assessment.

2. Feedback

The relevant teacher will contact you as soon as the computerised results of the assessment/evaluation are available.

This might take 1-2 days. A date and time will now be set up in order to discuss the printed report with you.

This information will indicate possible problem areas in your child's learning abilities, and also whether he/she is a candidate for the GoFocus programme.

Please note: This is an informal, practical evaluation and not a formal test for any learning disability.

3. Enrolment

Parents have the freedom to to decide how many one-hour sessions they prefer to enrol for every month.

There are 2 sessions to choose from, every afternoon from Monday-Thursday.

Recommended sessions:

1 hour (one session) per week

Some parents prefer to schedule 2 sessions per month and others prefer 2 sessions per week! The amount of sessions enrolled for can also differ every month.

The choice is entirely yours.

Please note: If sessions are scheduled too far apart, such as once a month, the effectiveness of the programme may be influenced negatively.

ALL enrolments and payments are made during the last week of each calender month for the following month.

4. Effectiveness of the programme

The effectiveness and outcome of the programme depends on:

attending sessions on a regular basis

using the techniques and skills in school-related work

completing the suggested GoFocus sections of the GoFocus programme
